As more and more people turn to plant-based alternatives, finding delicious and healthy meals has become easier than ever. If you’re craving something crispy and satisfying without all the unhealthy additives, look no further than these irresistible baked vegan “chicken” sticks! Made from gluten-free and oil-free ingredients, you’ll love the taste and the wholesome benefits.
One of the best things about this tasty meal is just how simple it is to prepare. Even if you’re not a chef, you can easily whip up a batch of these yummy “chicken” sticks to enjoy anytime. All you need is a block of tofu and a few other ingredients that you probably already have on hand.
Once you have your tofu, it’s important to remove excess liquid in order to achieve the desired texture. Simply wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel or paper towel and place a heavy object, like a cast iron skillet, on top. This allows the tofu to release any excess liquid, resulting in a firmer and more meat-like texture.
Now it’s time to turn your tofu into tasty “chicken” sticks! To create the perfect breading, use tapioca starch (although corn or potato can be substituted), along with plant milk and a coconut-based coating. Place each tofu “chicken” stick on a baking sheet, and bake until golden brown.
These delicious vegan “chicken” sticks are perfect for meal prepping, too. Make a big batch at the beginning of the week and enjoy them for lunch or dinner all week long. Not only are they a healthier alternative to traditional fried chicken, but they’re also better for the environment.
Next time you’re in need of a flavorful and satisfying meal, give these baked vegan “chicken” sticks a try. You and your taste buds won’t be disappointed!
